Description
We are hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to support hourly and salary employees within our Grand Rapids, MI Steelcase plants.

What you will be doing:
  • Develop business partnerships with target client groups.
  • Consult with leaders and employees to optimize organizational and individual performance.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration and communication with and between client stakeholders and employees.
  • Provide consulting, advisory support, and team leadership on Human Resources programs, procedures, and services to drive business requirements and promote employee engagement.
  • Assist and lead implementation of programs and processes in collaboration with Center of Expertise (COE).
  • Plan and implement Global Talent Management (GTM) initiatives to support the business goals.
  • Promote the consistent application of workforce programs and policies.
  • Provide consulting and advisory support on performance management, organizational structure and effectiveness.
  • Act as liaison to leverage and optimize the Human Resources service delivery model (SDM).

Your Future Team:
You will join a dynamic HR team that supports our manufacturing plants. Work closely with plant leadership as well as other HRBP's from other locations. Your immediate team would be members of Safety, Disability, and HR and you will be one of the faces of Human Resources for the hundreds of plant employees.

Who You Are:
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Business or related field
  • At least 2-3 years of previous experience in Human Resources, Health and Safety or functional business area.
  • Previous experience with employee development and growth.
  • Strong technology skills preferred.

Preferred Skills and Competencies
  • Broad knowledge and application of Human Resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills to counsel managers and employees coupled with the ability to coach/mentor leaders on organizational and individual performance needs and solutions.
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and safety standards/law.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws, issues and litigation procedures.
  • Applies consulting skills to problem solve and identify solutions to support workforce strategies.
  • Ability to work with others in organizational development, designing jobs, support group problem solving and identifying and removing barriers.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change, persuade and negotiate to reach acceptable compromise/solutions among all levels in the organization. Continually seek innovative approaches to problems and opportunities.
  • Ability to evaluate solution effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement through business case analysis.
  • Influences direction within the team and persuades others in areas of expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees at all levels of the organization and in representing the company with outside audiences.
  • Ability to leverage organizational resources effectively and lead/support Global Workforce Strategy.
