Position Summary:

Supports the Gordon Food Service corporate legal department, primarily in the areas of litigation, administrative charges, claims, complaints, and investigations and with other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Primarily responsible for supporting company attorneys by managing litigation, administrative charges, claims, complaints and investigations at Gordon Food Service and its affiliates and subsidiaries.

  • Support first party litigation in providing support in litigation discovery, including document collection, sorting, redaction; preparing discovery responses; witness preparation and coordination, including scheduling of depositions.

  • Respond to third party subpoenas, document requests, and interrogatories.

  • Engaged in pre-litigation dispute resolution with commercial partners.

  • Engaged in internal investigations, including document collection, email and document review and summaries, and witness interviews.

  • Responds to complaints from Attorney Generals and Better Business Bureau, and others as they arise.

  • Prepare and serve demand letters and other correspondence.

  • Manage and utilize an electronic legal hold system; develop and issue legal hold notices when litigation is probable; track outstanding legal hold notices.

  • Liaise with our law firms, experts, vendors, and counterparties to ensure timely coordination of litigation activities.

  • Legal research, court or administrative process research, and other research to support litigation activities.

  • Reporting to Chief Legal & Risk Officer and Board of Directors status of litigation matters.

  • Recordkeeping of the matter files.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
