Fabrication Assistant

Department: Weld/Weld Prep/Fabrication

Business Unit: Porter Corp

Location: Holland, MI

Reports To: Weld/Weld Prep Team Lead-Ryan De Roo

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: Hourly

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to work with the weld prep team and the weld fabrication team in an effort to gather materials for fabrication after prep. This position is called upon to handle all material from the prep areas for the welders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsibility for quality and quantity of sub-assemblies
  2. Continuous improvement in support of department and company goals
  3. Supports, participates and encourages team building
  4. Provides feedback, both positive and negative, to the team, other related departments and the supervisor
  5. Promotes a positive work environment
  6. Follow all of Porter Corps procedures and policies
  7. Work safely and efficiently

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  1. This position requires a knowledge of basic material handling methods to ensure a quality product is delivered to all customers
  2. Work requires high school diploma or equivalent


Travel

This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems

Other Requirements

  1. Able to read blue prints
  2. Exceptional interpersonal skills
  3. Must be open-minded to new ideas and concepts
  4. Possesses very good problem-solving skills
  5. Must be self-motivated and results oriented

  1. Safe and efficient material handling to minimize damage
