As the S&T Product Development Chemist, Expert you will be part of the PPG Powder Coatings team and responsible for formulating, preparing and testing new and existing powder coating products, evaluating new raw materials, maintaining existing products and working with manufacturing to resolve problems.
You will report to the Manager of Product Development.

Responsibilities:
- Support existing products and develop new powder coatings for multiple industrial business segments.
- Understands raw materials used in powder coatings and detailed knowledge of polymer and crosslinking chemistries.
- Guide new products from lab into production working with manufacturing, technical administration, and supply chain.
- Work with manager to set project goals and timelines and complete assigned work requests independently in the agreed upon time.
- Plan, conduct and analyze experimental work (coatings formulation, application, testing) with minimal input from technical leadership.
- Interpret complex customer specifications to understand product requirements.
- Organize work to maximize productivity in the laboratory.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar
- 5+ years of Lab experience ideally supporting powder or liquid coatings or similar.
- Strong problem solving, testing, and formulation skills
- Strong communications skills and willingness to work with customers as well as collaborate with colleagues and share resources.
- Demonstrate leadership within the team and step-up to research and suggest new methodologies/practices.
- Occasional travel to nearby facilities or for conferences etc...
