Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for delivery of infusion medications, supplies, and equipment to patients in their homes; picking and packing of supplies and equipment; receiving orders from vendors and putting stock away; pick-up of equipment when patients discontinue service; and cleaning, testing, and restocking of equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • At all times, responsible for participation within the department to meet objectives of the department.
  • At all times, responsible for expectations related to: Behavior and performance as outlined in the department's mission; Individual and departmental objectives for Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Growth, and Financial Success; Utilization of effective patient communication skills to incorporate specific age, cultural, or developmental needs. Interacts in a respectful manner, considerate of age and physical abilities (e.g., sight and hearing). Provides assistance to individuals in a manner that takes into account their special needs and age-related needs.
  • Delivery of clean equipment to patients with brief explanation on proper usage; includes scheduling, routing, and phoning clients.
  • Pick-up, sanitary cleaning, testing, and adjusting of returned equipment.
  • Receiving merchandise from warehouse and vendors, assembling new equipment, stocking, and picking and packing of patient supplies.
  • Completing vehicle maintenance checklists and cleaning as required.

  • Supports, cooperates with and demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules - including universal precautions - reports and prevents/corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.
  • Completes all required compliance standards that may be department specific and/or identified by the organization.
  • Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification, as applicable, at all times.

Education / Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience:

  • None required.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • Valid chauffeurs license and clean driving record required.

Other Qualifications:

  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate with older adults.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Effort:

  • Strength: May require incumbent to frequently perform physical activities requiring ability to push/pull objects of up to 50 pounds, constantly lift objects up 10 pounds; occasionally lift objects up to 35 pounds.
  • Manual Dexterity: Manual Dexterity-position requires incumbent to constantly perform simple motor skills such as standing or walking and manipulative skills such as writing; occasionally perform simple and moderately difficult manipulative skills such as typing.
  • Coordination: Position requires incumbent to constantly perform gross body coordination such as walking and stooping. Constantly performing tasks, which require eye-hand coordination such as keyboard skills; and constantly performing tasks, which require arm-hand steadiness such as calibration of equipment and IV admixture.
  • Mobility: Position requires incumbent to constantly perform mobility skills such as walking and standing; frequently perform stooping along with performing manual dexterity and coordination functions.
  • Visual Discrimination: position requires incumbent to frequently see objects closely as in reading or discriminate colors between different product packages.
  • Hearing: Position requires incumbent to constantly hear normal sounds with some background noise.
  • Concentration: position requires incumbent to be able to concentrate on minimal or moderate details with frequent amounts of interruptions; occasional concentration on fine detail with little to constant interruption.
  • Attention Span: Position requires incumbent to attend to task/functions constantly for periods up to 60 minutes in length and to frequently attend to task/functions for periods exceeding 60 minutes in length.
  • Conceptualization: position requires incumbent to constantly be able to understand and relate to specific ideas, concepts, and theories multiply generated and simultaneously discussed.
  • Memory: position requires incumbent to constantly remember task/assignment given to self and other over both short and long periods of time.

Work Environment:

Position requires incumbent to be exposed to a variety of substances within the department such as constant exposure to dust and electromagnetic radiation as in VDT's; occasional exposure to hazardous waste materials, toxins, chemicals, loud or unpleasant noises, or high humidity or wetness; seldom potential exposure to bodily injuries, such as needle sticks.
