Compensation & Benefits:

Pay Range: $23/hour - $30/hour, negotiable based on experience and skills.

SUMMARY

The CDL-A Driver is responsible for driving company trucks with flatbed trailers and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Deliver and pick up finished aluminum materials and products while providing excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Drives truck with capacities greater than 3 tons with flatbed trailers.
  • Understands and ensures consistent compliance with all federal, state and local laws / regulations, and company policies / procedures regarding the FMCSA.
  • Perform upkeep on mobile equipment.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Consistently provides prompt and courteous service to customers.
  • Professionally communicates to customers and coworkers in a clear and tactful manner.
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers and Protects materials from weather, as needed.
  • Performs daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any safety issues immediately.
  • Maintains company equipment inside/out in order to ensure both cleanliness and safety.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of verifiable related driving experience
  • CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe entry, exit, and operation of the vehicle
  • Ability to use limbs to operate controls, levers, and gears, such as shifting gears, to drive, position, load, and unload the truck.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently lift, move, or position materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to outdoor climate
