General Summary

The Environmental Compliance Administrator is responsible for assisting with the Company's overall compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with corporate, segment, and field personnel to help develop and implement strategy and policies related to environmental compliance throughout company operations.
  • Ensures periodic environmental inspections are performed at the locations.
  • Acts as a technical resource in an advisory capacity to each facility and senior management on environmental compliance matters.
  • Serves as a liaison with EPA and other applicable governmental agencies.
  • Works within the Legal Department to provide technical expertise and support for environmental-related legal issues.
  • Identifies problems and areas of high risk and makes recommendations for their timely and cost-effective mitigation.
  • Participates in acquisition and divesture due diligence reviews as necessary.
  • Assists in the evaluation, identification, and management of historic liability risks at currently owned or operated or formerly owned or operated sites.
  • Assists in the management, development, and evaluation of environmental remediation projects from conception to completion and works with technical professionals providing services as needed.
  • Works with corporate and segment safety personnel to help train/coordinate training of facility personnel in environmental regulatory required topics.
  • Oversees records retention including database development and records storage.
  • Prepares various reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering; chemistry; environmental science; biology or other related field of study.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in environmental compliance
  • Experience with remediation projects and environmental site assessment preferred.
  • Good understanding of EPA and other governmental policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge with:
    • Storm-water management, permitting and control;
    • Air permitting;
    • RCRA - hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams;
    • EPCRA - Tier II and TRI reporting; and
    • SPCC development and compliance

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
  • Ability to work in an environment of growth and continuous improvement
  • Ability to use a computer and business-related software.
  • Ability to organize, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and to prepare plans, goals, and budgets.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to pass a drug test
