Powder Coat Technician - Panels (1st Shift)

As a Powder Coat Technician, you will maintain and operate the Powder Coat System and Dip Tanks in order to meet the production schedule in a timely and efficient manner and make necessary corrections.

Currently there is an opening for a Powder Coat Technician in our Panels division on 1st shift (6:30a - 2:30p. Monday - Friday)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Start up the paint line and related equipment at the beginning of the shift.
  • Measure concentrations of chemical tanks
  • Maintain daily log of chemical concentrations and operating parameters
  • Verify correct quality, color and material to be used.
  • Verifies materials against work orders to confirm proper type and quantity.
  • Review schedule and prioritize work orders accordingly
  • Assist staging materials for production
  • Follows process specifications, test methods, and applicable process documentation to maintain process control
  • Make proper settings to oven, paint booth and line speed.
  • Perform all reasonably related duties assigned.
  • Know what hook to use and how to hang parts for the best finish.
  • Clean up scrap, cardboard, and skids.
  • Maintain proper levels of materials and supplies in production areas.
  • Make disposition of rejected materials.
  • Maintain constant communication with the powder coat technician and supervisors in extrusions, doors, and shipping.
  • Load and unload baskets for dip tank system.
  • Move materials to and from powder coat department and ensure the powder material is rotated "FIFO"
  • Clean and maintain paint booth, room, and surrounding areas.
  • Perform daily inspection of equipment for safety and working order and advise supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Completes necessary paperwork including DMNs.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Read work orders and follow instructions.
  • Frequently asks production area if they need help.
  • Provide the customer with the best value including Cost, Quality, and Delivery.
  • Participate in improving our product, processes, equipment, and methods.
  • Handle internal and external questions in a prompt professional manner.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Continually looks for ways to improve job efficiency and performance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of previous powder coat experience required.
  • 2 to 5 years of powder coat experience preferred.
  • Solid math skills
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to work overtime.

Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident ('Green Card').
