Job Description

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is seeking an additional Pediatric Nephrologist at the assistant, associate or full professor Level to join alongside our nationally recognized kidney specialists who work diligently to place children's comfort at a top priority and continually seek out the best treatment plans.

Essential Functions

  • Full time position, on call and inpatient coverage every fourth week
  • When not on call/inpatient, 5-6 half day clinics per week including possible outreach and telemedicine clinics
  • Work alongside support staff - clinic and dialysis nurses, transplant coordinators, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, research coordinators
  • Access to all the testing or procedures necessary including (soon) aquapheresis. CRRT, plasmaphersis, lipid apheresis, kidney transplantation as well as acute and chronic hemo- and peritoneal dialysis are in place and thriving
  • Academic appointment through Michigan State University
  • Participation in resident and medical student education, pediatric nephrology fellowship launch expected in 2025
  • Research and QI presence (ongoing involvement in CKID, CureGN, CTOT-41, NINJA, NAPRTCS, IROC and SCOPE)

The Children's Hospital

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is a 243-bed, free standing tertiary care center located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is the only licensed free-standing children's hospital and Level 1 pediatric trauma center in West Michigan. We care for a diverse patient population in the pediatric and cardiac ICU and via our own resident team on the regular hospital floors, including kidney transplant, bone marrow transplant, neurosurgical patients, trauma patients, with an active cardiac and non-cardiac ECMO program.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree
  • Physician (MD) or (DO) - Michigan Medical License
  • BE/BC - Pediatric Nephrology
  • Certification: (BLS) - (ACLS) - (PALS)
