Job Description

Job Summary

Provides patient recommendations for the safe and effective use of supplements, herbs, nutrition, homeopathy, mind-body medicine and lifestyle changes within the department's goals and procedures. In addition, is responsible for organizing resident and medical student rotations and overseeing herb and supplement pharmacies at Integrative Medicine locations.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluates the patient's physical and mental condition and determines the appropriate treatment. Prepares a written individual plan of care for each patient suitable to the patient's medical status. Communicates procedures and plan of care to the patient. Elicits follow-up feedback from patient regarding the benefit of treatment. Treats the patient in a manner consistent with accepted standards and ethics. Relates to the patient in a manner that respects the integrity of the patient. Documents naturopathic treatment provided on day service is given. Provides progress notes to health care team as requested.
  • Physician support: discussing patient care and answering complementary medicine questions for Corewell Health physicians and health care professionals. Sit on hospital committees and attend multi-D meetings.
  • Assists in marketing the Integrative Medicine department by presenting at conferences, hospital and community events.
  • Supervise other Naturopaths hired by hospital system including doing their evaluations and competencies.
  • Responsible for the resident/student rotation, including orientation, organization of the case conference with Oakland University William Beaumont and other educational content, mentoring students and coordinating their schedules. Presenting at Oakland University William Beaumont when requested.
  • Assists in writing manuscripts and articles.
  • Assists in research projects.

Qualifications
  • Required Graduation from accredited Naturopathic Medical College.
  • Required Successful completion of NPLEX exams (North American Naturopathic Licensing Exams).
  • 2 years of relevant experience Ideally, 2 to 5 years of experience treating patients naturopathically. Required
