Summary:

Barr is seeking a senior-level geologist or hydrogeologist to help with challenging projects related to environmental site assessments; investigations of soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and vapor; evaluations of groundwater-surface water interactions; aquifer test performance and analysis; evaluation of exposure pathways; development of site conceptual models; and work plan, report preparation, and response action planning.

Additional responsibilities will include mentoring junior staff; preparing cost estimates and proposals; writing and managing delivery of technical reports; consulting with regulatory agencies and clients; and participation in business development initiatives and client management. While the position is located in Grand Rapids, periodic travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related engineering degree

  • 12 or more years of relevant work experience directly related to the responsibilities above

  • Familiarity with Michigan EGLE regulations and Part 201 guidance

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients

  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness

  • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs

  • Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or engineering with an emphasis in hydrogeology

  • Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license in at least one jurisdiction

  • Experience or coursework in groundwater fate and transport and familiarity with MODFLOW

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Grand Rapids, Michigan, office.
