In the role of Environmental Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform environmental site investigations, hydrogeologic assessments, and solid waste and power generation compliance projects
  • Plan, conduct and manage field monitoring including drilling oversight and logging and groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling
  • Manage and/or implement fieldwork including well installation, soil boring investigations, and soil type classification
  • Evaluate and interpret geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and laboratory analytical results
  • Interpret State and Federal regulations to develop or determine compliance
  • Conduct database management and analyze groundwater data, identify problems, and propose approach to address problems
  • Prepare written plans and reports related to field investigations and data collection activities
  • Prepare corrective action/remedial plans that evaluate remediation alternatives
  • Work independently on small to medium projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Project Management duties include writing and implementing technical proposals, scheduling, and invoicing
  • Work directly with clients and regulators
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel, as needed
  • Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental studies, Hydrogeology, or closely related field
  • Practical experience with Michigan Part 115 & 201 Regulations and working with EGLE
  • Practical experience with remediation
  • Practical experience with EPA CCR Rule and working with EPA
  • Experience with statistical analysis of data
  • Surfer, GIS, gINT, graphing skills
  • Prior consulting experience
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher
