Job Summary
On the job apprenticeship training after completing required course work in an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program. Works under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor (MA, RN, provider) to maintain patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative health care in the clinic setting. Performs technical procedures, lab protocols and clinically oriented activities within their current scope of practice dictated by their training program and successful competency performance under direct supervision. May progress to Medical Assistant position after successful completion of their MA program.
Essential Functions
- Under direct supervision, assists the physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management.
- Collaborates work efforts with the clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
- Assists with interactions with outside healthcare facilities and agencies involving patient care and insurance
- Demonstrates the ability to speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
- Performs front office duties to provide coverage as needed
- Rotates to other departments or locations under direct supervision as needed.
- Demonstrates excellent customer services skills and supports the model of patient and family centered care.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Enrolled in an accredited Medical Assistant program. Required
- CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
