Position Description:

We are looking for a Substation Civil/Structural Professional Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Grand Rapids office. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and 10 or more years of experience. Experience with Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, and SAP/Maximo is required. Some travel will be required for this role. A Professional Engineering License is required. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule available after 30 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Design utility-scale electrical substation and transmission systems
  • Responsible for structural design of electrical substations steel structures and their foundations
  • Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles
  • Provides guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
  • Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards
  • Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines
  • Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
  • Attend and/or conduct client and project meetings
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Promote sales
  • Review scope, budget and schedule for project tasks
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
  • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
Skills/Experience:
  • PE License Required
  • 10 or more years of experience required
  • Exposure to Bentley Microstation and AutoCAD is required
  • Experience with the design of utility-scale electrical substation and transmission systems required
  • Experience with structural design of electrical substations steel structures and their foundations required
  • Exposure to Business Management Software (SAP/Maximo) is preferred
  • Candidate must be willing to travel
